  • Recipe:Beef Kebabs in Red Wine Marinade
  • Description: A quick and easy kebab to serve as one of a selection of skewers, or a treat on its own. For best results allow to marinade overnight. This recipe makes 10 kebabs.
  • Preparation Time: 10 to 15 minutes (plus time to marinade)
  • Cooking Time: 3 to 6 minutes
  • Ingredients: 1 ½ lb beef steak, about 1 inch thick
    250 ml (large wine glass) red wine
    90 ml sunflower oil
    2 bay leaves
    2 teaspoons hot mustard
    ½ teaspoon dried thyme
    ½ teaspoon dried oregano
    Freshly ground black pepper
  • Cooking Method: Place the wine, oil and herbs into a lidded container.  Mix well.
    Cut the meat into thin strips, about ¼ inch wide.
    Add the beef strips to the marinade.  Put the lid on the container and shake to coat the beef evenly.
    Place in the refrigerator.
    Soak 10 bamboo skewers in cold water whilst the BBQ heats.
    Fold the strips in three and thread onto the skewers.
    Cook over the BBQ for 3 to 4 minutes, turning regularly and brushing with marinade.
    Serve
    As one of a selection of kebabs or with seasoned wedges and a green salad.
